[ejabberd] Auth hooks from within ejabberd?

So I know how extauth works. I'm looking to avoid working with ports
and a long running processes sitting out there. I would much rather
just tie into the auth subsystem in ejabberd and write my auth code in
erlang. The question was specifically how to avoid using extauth.
