If the memory is the limiting factor then you may have to set up a
cluster on the same machine. Hopefully you can run two instances of
the erlang runtime on a single piece of hardware. That should at
least double the amount of addressable memory.
Or you could switch to 64bit linux. It works well there for us, and
we have about 8GB of available RAM for it.
