[ejabberd] SOLVED - pubsub stopped working mysteriously, cannot rectify (503 error)

I did eventually find this. But I didn't do the upgrade, otherwise the
cause and effect would have been much clearer. I was debugging this
issue completely in the dark...

Is there any documentation on the node plugins themselves? i.e. what is
the difference between flat, hometree, etc.
